Details

Under the shade of a big luscious tree, Krishna and Radha entertain the gopies (young village women). He plays his murali flute and she plays a stylized sitar. Together, Krishna and Radha symbolize eternal love. Avantika, one of the Artists of Kerala, paints this happy, sensual scene with acrylics. Magnificently detailed, the style recalls the legendary mural art of Kerala.

Meet the Artist

Artists of Kerala

"I would like people to know and appreciate this unique art form, which dates back to the 15th Century."

"Life is full of silly moments and one should enjoy life to the fullest. I am a fun loving person and I have never taken... life seriously. Life is to be enjoyed, and one should not spend this beautiful life worrying and running for worldly things.

"Hi I'm Rana, born in Ooty, in Tamil Nadu and I grew up in Calicut. My father was in the Defense Service so we traveled to many places, but since I was too young I don’t remember much of it. I graduated in Economics and I started working in the travel industry, so I also did a postgraduate course in Travel Management.

"During this time I worked in a renowned hotel and where I met the interior designer and during this time, I got in touch with lots of artists. They introduced me to the world of art, and helped me know and understand it. It was a great experience! I decided to leave my job and start working on my own, promoting the art works of many talented Kerala artists.

"Amongst these admirable artists was also one of my friends, and through our friendship I realized that I wanted to connect with this fascinating world of art in a more personal level.

"It has been tough. Lots of ups and downs and it's really been a struggle. I contacted artists from Kerala and heard their stories. I'm so impressed at how talented they are and I couldn't believe they didn't have many opportunities to display their art work for the world to see.

"That's when I got even more determined to do something about it. First, I created a space for them to exhibit their work and started collaborating with many artists, most of them specialize in the Kerala mural style of art.

"Kerala mural art has not received the kind of recognition it deserves, so it is one of my aims to highlight this art form at an international level. I would like people to know and appreciate this unique art form, which dates back to the 15th Century. These paintings are seen on the walls of churches, temples and palaces of Kerala. The main themes are god and goddesses, and their stories.

"The Artists of Kerala also paint in modern and contemporary styles with vibrant acrylic paints on canvas and canvas boards. I always try to encourage artists to find a way to connect their work with art lovers. Only when a person absorbs and understands the message will the beauty of our paintings reign.

"My wife, who is a structural designer, supports me and is a great source of inspiration for me. We have two beautiful children and they are already fascinated by these colorful paintings. I hope they also understand the meaning of art and become a part of this magical world of art.

"I am so glad to be a part of Novica. I feel confident that my association with such a renowned organization will surely yield stories of success."

Please note each painting from Artists of Kerala will be signed by the artist who painted it.

FINDING YOUR SIZE

Take your measurements with the tape measure over your under garments. If your measurements fall between sizes you may prefer the next larger size. BUST / CHEST

Measure around the fullest part of chest under the arms and over the shoulder blades keeping the tape measure level.

WAIST

Measure around the smallest part of the waist keeping the tape measure comfortably loose. Most garments use the low waist measurement noted below.

LOW WAIST

Measure around the body approximately 1.5" below the natural waist (above). This is the area where most pants and skirts actually fit.

HIPS

Standing with your heels together, measure around the fullest part of the body approx 7"-8" below the waist.

NECK

Measure around the base of the neck keeping the tape measure comfortably loose.

SLEEVE

Bend elbow slightly and starting at the center back of the neck, measure across the shoulder, to the elbow and down to the wrist.

INSEAM

Our standard inseam length for women is 32" and 34" for men; however inseam measurements will vary slightly by style.

Belts with buckles are measured in inches that correspond to a waist size however, most people do not wear belts on the waist, they wear them closer to the hips. A buckle belt measurement is take from the end of the "pin" of the buckle to the middle hole on the belt. Generally there are 5 holes for size adjustment, with a 1" space between each, so the middle hole will the be average size of the belt.

For at tie belt (no buckle) measure the belt portion end to end and half of the tie portion. This again is the medium size of the belt.

For a soft fabric tie belt it can be called "1 size fits most" and the entire length of the belt should be measured and listed.

See buckle/tie belt size standards below.
