Aram Torunyan

Aram Torunyan

I believe that jewelry has the power to evoke emotions, to tell stories, and to bridge the gap between different times and places.

"My name is Aram Torunyan, and I live in the beautiful and historically rich country of Armenia. For the past 12 years,... I have been immersed in the art of jewelry making, a craft that has not only become my profession but also a deep passion and a way of connecting to my Armenian roots. My journey in jewelry started with a desire to blend the ancient with the modern, to create pieces that not only speak to contemporary aesthetics but also pay homage to the intricate and profound heritage of Armenian culture.

"Armenia is a land where history, art, and tradition intertwine in every corner, from the majestic landscapes to the smallest details of daily life. This environment has always inspired me. The motifs and ornaments that I incorporate into my designs are deeply rooted in Armenian folk art and symbolism. Each piece I create reflects the harmony of old and new, telling stories that have been passed down through generations while also expressing a modern and personal interpretation of these traditions. One of the most beautiful aspects of Armenian art is its deep connection to nature and spirituality. From the ancient khachkars (cross-stones) to the ornate patterns found in manuscripts and architecture, Armenian motifs are rich with meaning. These designs often feature intricate geometric shapes, floral patterns, and religious symbols. In my jewelry, I take inspiration from these elements and reimagine them in ways that speak to contemporary tastes. My goal is to preserve the essence of Armenian art while making it accessible and appealing to a wider audience.

"Working with a variety of materials, I take great care in the process of designing and crafting each piece. I especially enjoy working with metals and stones, combining textures and colors to create unique works of art. I often use traditional techniques, such as hand-engraving and filigree, which require patience and precision. However, I also embrace innovation, experimenting with new tools and methods to push the boundaries of what is possible in jewelry design. This balance between tradition and innovation is at the heart of everything I create.

"For me, jewelry is more than just adornment; it is a medium of expression. When someone wears one of my pieces, they carry with them a piece of Armenian history and culture. This connection between the wearer and the heritage behind the design is incredibly meaningful to me. I believe that jewelry has the power to evoke emotions, to tell stories, and to bridge the gap between different times and places. Each piece I create has a story to tell, whether it’s inspired by an ancient legend, a historical event, or a personal experience.

"I am proud to be part of a growing movement of Armenian artisans who are preserving and reviving our cultural heritage through art and craftsmanship. By sharing my work with the world, I hope to bring a little piece of Armenia into people’s lives, wherever they may be. My vision is to continue exploring the depths of Armenian art, always learning, growing, and creating pieces that inspire others as much as they inspire me."
